  • The acquisition of the autonomous business unit (UPA) of Sangüesa S.A. and Tramedic S.A. represents Saesco Medical’s tenth transaction since 2019
  • The transaction adds complementary products that strengthen Saesco’s current offering and expands its portfolio in neurosurgery, traumatology and spinal treatments, while also adding a leading product for hysteroscopy

Saesco Medical, a European group specialised in the distribution of value-added medical devices, consumables and equipment for minimally invasive surgery, has acquired, as part of the insolvency proceedings of those companies, the autonomous business unit (UPA) of Sangüesa S.A. and Tramedic S.A. (together, “Sangüesa”), companies specialising in the commercialisation of medical products for the hospital sector in Spain.

The transaction reinforces Saesco’s pan-European growth strategy through complementary acquisitions and consolidates its presence in Spain, where the group already operates through Cardiolink, Saesco Medical and Fixaplus. The new Sangüesa will continue to operate as a business unit within Saesco, with the same management team and its local teams across Spain.

The integration will expand and complement Saesco’s current portfolio by adding products that strengthen its existing offering and new solutions in complementary segments such as neurosurgery, traumatology and spinal treatments. It will also strengthen its gynaecology portfolio with a leading product for hysteroscopy, consolidating an offering that already exceeds 600 medical products distributed for international manufacturers.

The transaction includes an initial investment of more than three million euros aimed at consolidating and driving the business operations of the company, which was founded in 1987 in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona) and operates throughout Spain, as well as the transfer of the workforce linked to the acquired business unit and the continuity of its CEO, Joan Carles Esperanza, at the head of the team.

The addition of Sangüesa brings new product capabilities and manufacturer relationships to Saesco’s operations in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland. The company currently serves more than 2,000 customers in Europe, including hospitals and specialised clinics, and remains committed to innovative, high-quality products with clinical efficacy and proven outcomes.

Jordi Fluvià, CEO of Saesco Medical:

“The acquisition of Sangüesa fully aligns with our pan-European growth and sector consolidation strategy. It enables us to broaden our capabilities in complementary areas in Spain and continue strengthening our position as a leading platform in medical technology.”

Joan Carles Esperanza, CEO of Sangüesa, commented:

“Joining Saesco ensures a solid and dynamic future for Sangüesa’s business, enabling it to continue serving clinical professionals and patients for decades to come.”
